Nearing the end of the "fourth trimester"

The first few weeks after Wren was born and I was having a really hard time, multiple people told me that the first few months were the hardest, and then it gets better after that. Wren will be three months on Wednesday, and I can attest that it DOES get a little easier. Wren is actually becoming fun- I can't say this was the case the first several weeks when she cried all day. She's fussing less, sleeping better and enjoying when we take her places.

We thought we had cleared a big hurdle when Wren started sleeping through the night last week. She went an entire week of 9-10 hours of sleep a night, but then regressed this weekend and woke up in the middle of the night again. We suspect that it's because she wasn't in daycare Fri-Sun, and daycare is what tires her out at night. We'll see what happens tonight. ;)

So much for sleeping through the night... ;)

Zsa Zsa came to visit again this weekend

I started reading to Wren! She loves looking at the pictures.

Lake and Beach

We are certain of one thing about Wren lately - she is a water baby! The past few weeks we've taken trips to Lake Travis and to the Panama City Beach area of Florida with Wren. To say she loves the water is an understatement. We visited Lake Travis with Cam's family, where Wren took her first boat ride and swam in the lake. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then she had a blast "jumping" into the water from the boat. Lake life suited Oscar as well. Who needs a boating license? Lake life is exhausting Larry was kind enough to fly us to Florida so we didn't have to make the brutal choice of braving the COVID-19 crowds at the airport or a 14-hour car ride with a toddler. This allowed us to bring Oscar to the beach with us too! This was our third annual trip "crashing" Mark and Jordan's combined family vacation. It's a special trip for us because we love watching Mark's four niece...

Spring 2021 Update

We are well over a year into the pandemic, and there are signs of hope in DFW. Both Cameron and I have received both doses of Pfizer, so now we and both sets of grandparents are fully vaccinated. Most of our friends have received at least their first vaccine, too.  Elliot was visiting and her mama put her on a blanket, so Wren brought her a baby and joined her. ;) Wren, Brooke and Elliot Brooke's first birthday party Reading with Baba We received some sad news from Wren's daycare last week. They are closing permanently at the end of May, but we were lucky enough to receive a spot at a nearby sister campus. Wren starts at her new campus next Monday, May 3. We anticipate it will be a difficult adjustment for her, so we're trying to warm her up to it by talking about her "new school" and showing her the campus and playground ahead of time. Wren LOVES her teachers and her classmates, so we hope the transition won't be too hard on her.      We've spent many bea...

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. When she turned 3, she told us she would now like to have coffee, beer and wine. 😂  She skied for the first time in Crested Butte in February with Cam’s family and loved it. She kept telling her ski instructors that she wanted to “go fast!” She loves her cousins Cash and Walker dearly and thinks they are super cool.  First date  Arboretum Christmas village  Taking...
