Wren's first visit to Cedar Hill

Wren visited her Bapcia and Dziadziu at their house in Cedar Hill for the first time yesterday. She loved rolling around on their big living room floor and smelling the flowers outside with Dziadziu. Bapcia turned the classical music up loud in the living room and she slept so well in her pack-n-play. I felt something special about bringing my baby to the house I grew up in. :)

Wren's first vacation

We just returned from Panama City Beach yesterday. It wasn't the relaxing type of beach vacation we were used to pre-Wren, but we're so glad we took her! Wren was surrounded by so much love from Mark and Jordan's nieces (four girls 8 and under), and it was great to share one of my favorite pastimes with her. She did great on the flight! She slept a little and chilled with minimal fuss both ways. It was such a relief and a great sign that we can take her with us on future trips. She tolerated the beach for moments at a time, but overall I think it was a little too hot for her. We'll try again next year when she's old enough to actually get in the water. Wren slept really well on the trip - between 10 and 11 hours each night. Not sure if it's because the beach wore her out or if maybe we've finally turned a corner on the 4 month sleep regression. She's officially a roller and likes to sleep on her stomach. Fingers crossed the worst part is behind us and

Four months old

We have a four-month-old! Wren started at her new daycare last week. It's half the distance of her old one, so it's been a lot easier for me to get her to and from daycare, and much more practical for Cam to step in during emergencies. Her first couple of days were apparently a little rough, but she seems to be adjusting well. Welcome, Wren "Proth!"  Wren survived her first power outage! Dallas was hit by a massive storm on Sunday, and we lost power for 39 hours. Our daycare lost power, too, so we had to take off Monday since we had no childcare. Dealing with a power outage with an infant is a challenge I hope I never have to experience again! It was pure chaos at our house, although we didn't have it as bad as others in our area did. Our neighbor has a generator, and he ran a cord to our house so we could plug in a few things. We had our refrigerator, TV, WiFi, and bought fans for our room and Wren's room. It definitely could have been worse.

Daycare bugs are the pits

Wren has taken a beating from daycare illnesses the past several weeks. I feel like she's hasn't caught a break in over a month. It's been one sickness after another - she had a cold, a stomach bug (that she spread to the entire household, including Oscar), and now she has a fever and is more lethargic and fussy than usual. Her sleep has suffered considerably the past couple of weeks, too. We start at a new daycare tomorrow that's closer to our house, and I'm afraid they're going to send her home on her first day if her fever doesn't break. Hopefully she gets plenty of rest tonight and is back on her feet by the morning. Aside from Wren's immune system getting lots of practice lately, she's reaching more milestones. She's so cute when she babbles to us; it's as if she's really having a conversation. She's close to rolling over - she'll roll to her side but then gets a little apprehensive. She holds toys in both of her hands, alt
