Bird about town

Things are slowly starting to turn a corner with our little bird. She started daycare last week, and her night sleep has immediately improved. They must wear her out all day long, because the past week she slept a 7.5 hour stretch (8:30 pm - 4:00 am) and an 8 hour stretch (9:00 p.m. - 5 a.m.)! While she still has fussy days, she is getting manageable enough to take out in public. I took Wren to lunch with my old boss in Richardson Friday afternoon and we sat on the patio with little fuss. We took her to Truck Yard on Friday night and she loved being out in the fresh air and soaking up all the attention. It used to be Oscar who was the star of the show at Truck Yard - now he has to share it with his sister! :D Saturday morning we took her to brunch at The Rustic with a couple friends, and we felt more like ourselves pre-Wren. It was refreshing! The one challenge we're facing with daycare is it's a really long commute for me to/from Carrollton with Wren crying in her car seat

Easter Weekend

Wren was blessed with great weather and loving family on her first Easter weekend. On Friday my mom watched her during the day, and we all went to Truck Yard in the afternoon. We left for Floresville Saturday morning, and Wren got an A+ on her road trip skills. She slept like a champ both trips! We stopped at a kid and dog friendly restaurant in La Vernia on the way there, and we all enjoyed the beautiful day before our last stretch to Cam's parents house. Wren enjoyed being passed around like a football on Easter at Cam's parents house. She got held by at least three different grandmas and several of her cousins. :) Oscar had the best time, too! Today was Wren's first day of daycare. Daycare update TBD...

Back to work

Well, my maternity leave is officially over. I went back to work last Friday, April 12, and it feels good to be among other adults during the day. Melissa stayed with Wren this week, and she officially starts daycare next Monday. She's 10 weeks old today! We are getting near the point where we can take Wren out in public without fussing the whole time. So far she's visited my office, 4 Corners Brewery, Truck Yard and Cane Rosso. Back to work! This was my first time wearing pants that don't stretch, blowdrying my hair, and wearing makeup in weeks. Smiles from our little birdie First brewery! I've had some killer headaches lately, so Dziadziu came to help out during the day a couple times while I was on leave. Smiles for Daddy Smiles <3

2 months old

Wren turned two months old yesterday! She had two doctors appointments, one with the GI specialist who diagnosed her food allergies. Her new formula has cleared up her food allergy issues, but she is still struggling with reflux. It's painful for her to eat, and she still cries all day long. Her sleep is disturbed during the day and at nighttime, which is worrisome to Cam and me since I go back to work on Friday. The doctor prescribed her a new medicine yesterday, so hopefully this one works and we will have a happy baby within the next few days. If not, I've read that these types of things clear up by 3 or 4 months. One day at a time, right? Wren really loves going for walks in her stroller, bath time, and "talking" on her changing table. She's becoming more alert by the day, focusing on objects and faces for longer and looking more "human". She changes so fast and looks different to me every day! I am starting to see more of Cameron's face in her

Going on two months

We've had a little progress since switching Wren to the amino acid-based formula. She no longer has diarrhea or vomiting, and her rash has disappeared. She is still pretty fussy during the day, but she's in her peak crying age, so maybe this is to be expected. Wren is growing bigger and is so much more alert these days. She's awake for longer periods, focuses on faces and objects, and smiles often! She loves going for walks in her stroller, taking baths, and laying on her changing table. She's also developing a lot of neck strength and can lift her head for a few seconds at a time during tummy time. I go back to work April 9 and am still a little apprehensive about putting Wren to daycare so young. We're meeting with a nanny tomorrow morning who will potentially stay with the little bird in the morning so I can work part-time at work until she's a little older. Here are photos from the past week. Meeting Aunt Poppy and Uncle Wes for the first time
