2-year-old Summer

We have had an eventful summer with our silly, spirited 2-year-old. Wren's transition to her new daycare went very smoothly. She loves her new school, friends and teachers, and didn't go through a rough time switching schools as we had anticipated. The new center is closer to our home and less expensive, so all-around it was a positive change for all of us.

Last day at Medical City

First week at Dealey with a new friend

Wren has experienced lots of fun new places this summer. We've been to the Dallas Aquarium, Six Flags, the Fort Worth Zoo again, a Rangers game, and Wren's first pool party. Wren discovered hot dogs at the Rangers game and they might be her new favorite food. She loved cheering with the crowd for the Rangers!
First time at the Dallas World Aquarium

First time at Six Flags. We're Season Pass holders now!

NOT a fan of the Ferris Wheel

Definitely a fan of "The Boot". We rode this 6 or 7 times.

Fort Worth Zoo. She loves reptiles.

Deep talks with Dad

We visited the 30A area in Florida this year with Mark and Jordan's families. Wren loved the pool and being IN the ocean, but was afraid of the sand this year. We'll have to work on that. ;) She was old enough this year to communicate and play with all of the other kids in the house, and she enjoyed staying up late and "watching movies" with the girls. It was cute.

Plane ride to Florida. Wren did great!

A box and a pair of adult flip flops. What more does a toddler need to play with?

Hop in, we goin to da beach!

Movie night

Bye bye, Florida!

We recently went to Lake Travis to celebrate Wes' 40th birthday. Wren had the time of her life at the lake house. She loved swimming in the lake, splashing around in her pool, and playing in the yard with the other kids. Cam and I have our eyes set on a lake house now so that we can recreate this experience for her as she grows up.

Developmentally, Wren blows my mind right now. Her speech is developing so rapidly, and she seems like more and more of a young lady each day. She is going through a bit of a separation anxiety phase. She cries fiercely and dramatically for Mama when we put her down at night, and she's really grumpy when she wakes up in the morning. She's really into The Big Bad Wolf right now; she's partially terrified and partially intrigued by him. She also loves singing, baby dolls, and reading books. She's a good eater when she wants to be, but she's kind of fickle lately. She'll try everything at least once, but even when she's decided she likes something, she may not like it the next day. I am really proud that she eats her veggies and flabbergasted that she doesn't like chocolate like her mama. We are so proud of this funny little human and lucky to call her ours.

Lake and Beach

We are certain of one thing about Wren lately - she is a water baby! The past few weeks we've taken trips to Lake Travis and to the Panama City Beach area of Florida with Wren. To say she loves the water is an understatement. We visited Lake Travis with Cam's family, where Wren took her first boat ride and swam in the lake. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then she had a blast "jumping" into the water from the boat. Lake life suited Oscar as well. Who needs a boating license? Lake life is exhausting Larry was kind enough to fly us to Florida so we didn't have to make the brutal choice of braving the COVID-19 crowds at the airport or a 14-hour car ride with a toddler. This allowed us to bring Oscar to the beach with us too! This was our third annual trip "crashing" Mark and Jordan's combined family vacation. It's a special trip for us because we love watching Mark's four niece

9 months, first haircut

Our little birdie turned 9 months last week! She is riding all around the house in her walker, climbing stairs, pushing her sit-to-stand walker around the house, and most recently, eating three meals a day. We saw her GI specialist last week and made plans to slowly reintroduce her to dairy and soy next month. If that goes well, she might soon be able to start eating off the big kids' menu at daycare. One of my favorite new parts of the day with Wren is meal time. We went to Dream Cafe on Saturday and sat on the patio with Oscar. Wren got to order "off the menu" for the first time; she ordered a side of avocado and black beans. ;) She LOVES tomatoes - I cut cherry tomatoes into little bite-sized pieces for her, and she picks them up with her fingers and shoves them into her mouth. I'm looking forward to her being more like a little girl and less of a baby.   Wren also got her first haircut last weekend! She sat on Cam's lap and laughed at herse

Milestones on Milestones

...and we're mobile. I've been trying to challenge Wren to crawl the past couple months by placing toys in front of her, and until recently, she had been hesitant and frustrated. Last Friday, she just went for it! She's officially mobile, which Cameron is not too thrilled about. :) Wren has reached several fun new milestones this month! Aside from crawling, she's standing up supported and feeding herself her bottle. I picked her up from daycare last week and she was just chillin' on a Boppy feeding herself a bottle. I looked at the teacher wide-eyed and asked, "she's feeding herself?", and she nonchalantly replied, "Oh yeah, she's been doing that for two weeks now..." I guess we've just been spoiling her too much at home. <3 Wren appears to have a boyfriend at daycare. She always appears in pictures with the same boy, Augustus, and when I joked with the teachers about it, they confirmed that she loves hanging
