Family and the flu

Poor Wren came down with the flu just in time for Thanksgiving. :(

Larry and Melissa were in town last weekend, and we took Wren lots of fun places: the Perot Museum, the Arboretum, and our favorite restaurant Terilli's. She seemed to feel great and ate well all weekend, but then Sunday night, she woke up at 9 p.m. and screamed until 3 a.m. Cam took her to the doctor on Monday and she tested positive for the flu.

Cam and I took turns staying home from work all week and kept Wren out of daycare. We had to cancel our original plans to go to Austin for the Texas football game and let her recover in Dallas. We spent Thanksgiving Day with my family at the Warwick in Dallas, where Wren had very little appetite. :( It took her a full week to recover, and she's still suffering from some teething pains. It's been a rough week for poor Wren!



Wren has been ordering off the menu at restaurants. Here she is eating steamed veggies at Terilli's. Half of the plate ended up on the floor beneath her.

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. When she turned 3, she told us she would now like to have coffee, beer and wine. 😂  She skied for the first time in Crested Butte in February with Cam’s family and loved it. 11 months, first swim lesson

Wren turned 11 months last week! She is turning out to be a pretty good eater. We've slowly started reintroducing her to dairy and she seems to be tolerating it well, so fingers crossed her dairy allergy is behind her. Some of her new favorite foods are bread (who doesn't love bread, girlfriend?), turkey & dressing, tamales, grilled chicken, and her go-to favorites are still green beans, avocados and tomatoes. She even tried salmon and tilapia at lunch yesterday and enjoyed both. The only thing she's refused so far is beets. Can't really blame ya, Wren - beets are an acquired taste for most! Wren understands the concept of sharing - especially with her big brother Oscar. Sometimes she'll alternate between taking a bite of food and handing a piece to Oscar. Oscar all of a sudden is learning to tolerate Wren's hair pulling and attention hogging much better lately... Wren took her first swim lesson yesterday and really enjoyed it. Our litt...
