Family and the flu

Poor Wren came down with the flu just in time for Thanksgiving. :(

Larry and Melissa were in town last weekend, and we took Wren lots of fun places: the Perot Museum, the Arboretum, and our favorite restaurant Terilli's. She seemed to feel great and ate well all weekend, but then Sunday night, she woke up at 9 p.m. and screamed until 3 a.m. Cam took her to the doctor on Monday and she tested positive for the flu.

Cam and I took turns staying home from work all week and kept Wren out of daycare. We had to cancel our original plans to go to Austin for the Texas football game and let her recover in Dallas. We spent Thanksgiving Day with my family at the Warwick in Dallas, where Wren had very little appetite. :( It took her a full week to recover, and she's still suffering from some teething pains. It's been a rough week for poor Wren!



Wren has been ordering off the menu at restaurants. Here she is eating steamed veggies at Terilli's. Half of the plate ended up on the floor beneath her.

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. When she turned 3, she told us she would now like to have coffee, beer and wine. 😂  She skied for the first time in Crested Butte in February with Cam’s family and loved it. Summer into Fall

We've had some pretty big developments since my last update. A few days after my last post, Wren began crawling out of her crib and transitioned into a big girl bed! It's been an exhausting 2 1/2 months. She fights like crazy at night to get into bed, and for several weeks she was waking up in the middle of the night and running into our room. Things have improved, but she's still adjusting! We went to Miami with Baba and Yaya in July. They were such great help with Wren, so Cam and I had a little time to relax. Wren loved staying in her "house" with Baba and Yaya and swimming in the hotel pool. She's still not a huge fan of the beach! Wren has been doing great with her potty training! She only wears Pull-Ups at night and has few accidents these days. I was bribing her with toys every time she peed or pooped in the potty, but lately I've had to up it to chocolate or cookies.
