Milestones on Milestones

...and we're mobile.

I've been trying to challenge Wren to crawl the past couple months by placing toys in front of her, and until recently, she had been hesitant and frustrated. Last Friday, she just went for it! She's officially mobile, which Cameron is not too thrilled about. :)

Wren has reached several fun new milestones this month! Aside from crawling, she's standing up supported and feeding herself her bottle. I picked her up from daycare last week and she was just chillin' on a Boppy feeding herself a bottle. I looked at the teacher wide-eyed and asked, "she's feeding herself?", and she nonchalantly replied, "Oh yeah, she's been doing that for two weeks now..." I guess we've just been spoiling her too much at home. <3

Wren appears to have a boyfriend at daycare. She always appears in pictures with the same boy, Augustus, and when I joked with the teachers about it, they confirmed that she loves hanging out and "talking" with him.

Wren has spent a lot of time at Babcia and Dziadziu's the past few weeks. My mom has been gracious enough to keep Wren over the weekend while Cam and I have gone to Austin for a football game and while we've both traveled independently. She also got to spend time with Zsa Zsa while I was in Nevada for work.

Her seven month sleep regression has passed (knock on wood), and we are once again enjoying restful nights. Wren's personality is shining through more and more by the day, and she and Oscar are starting to understand each other more. She is such a little bundle of joy.

Lake and Beach

We are certain of one thing about Wren lately - she is a water baby! The past few weeks we've taken trips to Lake Travis and to the Panama City Beach area of Florida with Wren. To say she loves the water is an understatement. We visited Lake Travis with Cam's family, where Wren took her first boat ride and swam in the lake. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then she had a blast "jumping" into the water from the boat. Lake life suited Oscar as well. Who needs a boating license? Lake life is exhausting Larry was kind enough to fly us to Florida so we didn't have to make the brutal choice of braving the COVID-19 crowds at the airport or a 14-hour car ride with a toddler. This allowed us to bring Oscar to the beach with us too! This was our third annual trip "crashing" Mark and Jordan's combined family vacation. It's a special trip for us because we love watching Mark's four niece...

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. When she turned 3, she told us she would now like to have coffee, beer and wine. 😂  She skied for the first time in Crested Butte in February with Cam’s family and loved it. She kept telling her ski instructors that she wanted to “go fast!” She loves her cousins Cash and Walker dearly and thinks they are super cool.  First date  Arboretum Christmas village  Taking...

One month with the bird

Our Little Bird is one month old today. I want to intentionally stress that this month has not been the peaceful, blissful experience that new parenthood is often made out to be on social media. While we acknowledge that we're SO fortunate to have had a relatively easy pregnancy and a healthy baby girl, this first month has been gut-wrenching. At Wren's one month check-up, our pediatrician confirmed that Wren most likely has colic, which is just a term used for babies that have un-diagnosed excessive crying. She also said it will probably get worse the next couple of weeks before it starts getting better. The good news is that her growth is on track - she's already 8 lbs, 5.8 oz and has grown a quarter of an inch. What is helping me is learning that we are not alone in having a fussy baby girl. I posted to Facebook last night about my experience and so far have >70 comments and multiple texts from parents who also shared our experience the first three months. You rarel...
