Milk and soy are not Wren's friends.

What a week! Last weekend, Wren got to meet several of Cam's and my best friends. We got lots of help that weekend so we could enjoy the Dallas St. Paddy's Day activities while our friends were in town. Wren appeared to be getting better and was sleeping well Friday and Saturday, but things took a turn for the worse Sunday when Wren began projectile vomiting. Her diarrhea still hadn't improved, either.:(

I took Wren back to the doctor on Wednesday and they referred me to a GI specialist. Wren definitely has a milk protein allergy, but she's also allergic to soy! There is soy in the formula we switched her to last week. We've now put her on her FOURTH formula, an amino acid-based formula, and within two days, she is getting better! Her diarrhea is gone, her rash is fading, and the vomiting has subsided. She's still pretty fussy, but she's hitting her 6-week growth spurt, so I suspect the fussing is due to her increased hunger. We hope we've found the solution for our little bird. It's been a rough 6 weeks for her.

Jennuh went back to Austin today after staying for 2 nights to help us out. Tonight Wren gets to meet her Uncle Wes and Aunt Poppy for the first time!

Lately she only sleeps when being held. :/ Very inconvenient, but I'll do anything lately to comfort our poor baby. She's had such a rough 6 weeks!

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. 11 months, first swim lesson

Wren turned 11 months last week! She is turning out to be a pretty good eater. We've slowly started reintroducing her to dairy and she seems to be tolerating it well, so fingers crossed her dairy allergy is behind her. Some of her new favorite foods are bread (who doesn't love bread, girlfriend?), turkey & dressing, tamales, grilled chicken, and her go-to favorites are still green beans, avocados and tomatoes. She even tried salmon and tilapia at lunch yesterday and enjoyed both. The only thing she's refused so far is beets. Can't really blame ya, Wren - beets are an acquired taste for most! Wren understands the concept of sharing - especially with her big brother Oscar. Sometimes she'll alternate between taking a bite of food and handing a piece to Oscar. Oscar all of a sudden is learning to tolerate Wren's hair pulling and attention hogging much better lately... Wren took her first swim lesson yesterday and really enjoyed it. Our litt...
