30 weeks- it’s getting real

Friends and family:

I’ve created this page to share photos and milestones of our baby girl throughout her childhood so that our loved ones can watch her grow. My hopes are she’ll also turn to this blog when she’s older to see how loved she is.

Today marks 30 weeks of pregnancy! February 11 will be here before we know it, and Cam and I honestly have no idea what we’re doing. We are signed up for a Baby Basics class next week to learn how to change a diaper, swaddle, etc.

I'm officially well into the baby bump. Here's me on Sept 13 (18 weeks) when I first noticed I was looking pregnant:

Flash forward two weeks to Sept 26 (20 weeks):

And here's Nov 10 (27 weeks), where there's little ambiguity as to whether or not I'm expecting:

I've had a relatively easy pregnancy, and I'm only now starting to get bothered by fatigue and general discomfort. Baby girl's been kicking like crazy since about 17 weeks. I can't wait to meet you and know you, little one. Cam and I already love you so much.

Love,
Mommy

Lake and Beach

We are certain of one thing about Wren lately - she is a water baby! The past few weeks we've taken trips to Lake Travis and to the Panama City Beach area of Florida with Wren. To say she loves the water is an understatement. We visited Lake Travis with Cam's family, where Wren took her first boat ride and swam in the lake. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then she had a blast "jumping" into the water from the boat. Lake life suited Oscar as well. Who needs a boating license? Lake life is exhausting Larry was kind enough to fly us to Florida so we didn't have to make the brutal choice of braving the COVID-19 crowds at the airport or a 14-hour car ride with a toddler. This allowed us to bring Oscar to the beach with us too! This was our third annual trip "crashing" Mark and Jordan's combined family vacation. It's a special trip for us because we love watching Mark's four niece...

4 month photo dump

I have neglected updating Wren’s blog for several moths, so here is a huge photo dump featuring Christmas, her 3rd birthday, and first time skiing in Crested Butte. Our little one has such a funny little personality. Right now she’s really into cooking and food toys, and she’s turning out to be kind of a girly girl. She insists that everything is “pink”, and the books she picks at bedtimes are typically princess books and fairy tales. She continues to be obsessed with the big bad wolf and witches. Her favorite food is French fries, but she fortunately does a good job cleaning up her fruits and veggies too. When she turned 3, she told us she would now like to have coffee, beer and wine. 😂  She skied for the first time in Crested Butte in February with Cam’s family and loved it. She kept telling her ski instructors that she wanted to “go fast!” She loves her cousins Cash and Walker dearly and thinks they are super cool.  First date  Arboretum Christmas village  Taking...

One month with the bird

Our Little Bird is one month old today. I want to intentionally stress that this month has not been the peaceful, blissful experience that new parenthood is often made out to be on social media. While we acknowledge that we're SO fortunate to have had a relatively easy pregnancy and a healthy baby girl, this first month has been gut-wrenching. At Wren's one month check-up, our pediatrician confirmed that Wren most likely has colic, which is just a term used for babies that have un-diagnosed excessive crying. She also said it will probably get worse the next couple of weeks before it starts getting better. The good news is that her growth is on track - she's already 8 lbs, 5.8 oz and has grown a quarter of an inch. What is helping me is learning that we are not alone in having a fussy baby girl. I posted to Facebook last night about my experience and so far have >70 comments and multiple texts from parents who also shared our experience the first three months. You rarel...
